Time Away
We are deliverable-based, not clock-based, so there is no leave ledger — there is communication.
- Contractors manage their own schedules. What matters is the agreed scope and milestones; plan your time away so commitments hold, and tell the people your absence affects before it starts.
- Interns coordinate time away with their supervisor ahead of time, so sprint planning can account for it. Reasonable time away is never held against anyone — unannounced disappearance during committed work is a different matter (see work ethic).
- During client engagements, absences that affect the client's sprint or SLA must be flagged to the engagement lead early enough to cover them — see client engagements.
Rest is part of doing excellent work. Take it, plan it, communicate it.
